Aluminum Floor Installation Instructions:
  1. Review Installation Steps: For detailed installation instructions, please refer to the aluminum floor installation guide.
  2. Inflating Boat Tubes and Keel: Before operating your boat in choppy waters, ensure that the boat tubes and keel are fully inflated to the maximum recommended pressure to prevent damage to the floorboards. For more information on air pressure, please consult this FAQ section. Underinflated tubes and keel can lead to aluminum floor cracking. Please see different FAQ for more info on that.
  3. Preparing to Install Stringers: When installing the stringers, position the oars beneath the bottom of the boat to elevate the edges of the floorboards off the ground.
  4. Installing Stringers: Stringers are designed to connect two adjacent main floorboards. Each main floorboard consists of smaller sections that are joined by C-channels at the edges. For optimal alignment, ensure the spaces between adjacent stringers do not line up with the joint lines between the smaller sections of each floorboard.

Note: Specifications and accessories are subject to change without notice. Max O/B Motor means: maximum power of outboard motor that can be safely used to plane the boat loaded to the maximum capacity at normal water surface conditions. Please exercise common sense and caution when using maximum motor capacity. Do not jump from wave to wave as new 4-stroke motors are much heavier then 2-stroke and provide extra strain on the transom. Under normal circumstances, with half the maximum persons/load capacity, 50% of maximum O/B power rating may be necessary to put boat on plane.

It is big boat and it is really good quality. I like it very much and am happy with my buy.

pro: It is a good price, it is very strong. I like the red color.

cons: floor is heavy but it make boat very stable. nothing really bad.

The Saturn SD488 is an excellent inflatable boat. I needed a large capacity boat for group outings, and this fits the bill perfectly. Its capacity to hold a large group without compromising on performance or safety is commendable.

The boat's specifications, like the safety valve and durable rubber strike, make it a safe option for long trips. Furthermore, the extra protection from sharp rocks and abrasive sand provided by the double layer of fabric at the bottom of the tubes and the rub-strake protector is a great touch. I'm thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and can't wait for more adventures with this fantastic boat.

I bought this in 2019. It is a great dive boat. My only issues have been lack of storage areas. There are none. So you have to constantly transfer belongings, supplies ect. back and forth from car to boat and back. I fixed this with cabinets and tie downs I attached to the aluminum floor.
The weak spot on this boat are the straps that hold the benches. Of all the glue joints these are the weakest. They did not fail but you can see definite wear after only 1 season. I fixed this by putting the cabinets under 2 of the benches that are also attached to the floor. I do not use the forward one. This has stabilized the problem. I put a detachable swim ladder that attaches to the transom.
The biggest challenge was the trailer. I bought one that fits up to 16'. Be sure you buy one that is fully adjustable. If you ever want to sell it, it can be adjusted to any boat. It came with 2 bunks and I added 2 more to accommodate the soft hull.
I also bought the bimini top. You have to make up a method to attach it unless you glue attachment points onto the boat.
For the winter I deflated it, wrapped it in that plastic wrap you use for moving and put it as well as the engine in the basement.
I get compliments every time I put it in the water. Without the motor I spent about $3,000 on the boat and trailer. It is by far the cheapest way to get a boat. For New England it is by far a great choice for the limited season.

I am so happy with having purchased my 488, one of the best decisions I have made, I was thinking of buying a hard boat but its tough considering how expensive they are.

I took a leap and bought this and haven't looked back.

I PURCHASED THE 16 FT. SATURN BOAT AND I'M EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH IT. I HAVE TO SAY THAT NOT ONLY WAS THE PRICE AFFORDABLE BUT THE QUALITY OF THE BOAT EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS!!!
