Rudder for Saturn Pedal Kayaks.
- Great for DIY rudder steering for Saturn Pedal Kayaks FPK365 and PK365.
- Extra long pin to fit into hole in rear end cone of pedal kayaks
The Saturn Pedal Kayak Rudder is an extended-length, wide-profile rudder designed for FPK365 and PK365 pedal kayak models. It features a specialized long pin engineered to fit precisely into the pre-drilled mounting holes located in the rear-end cones of Saturn pedal kayaks. This rudder can also be adapted for use with other inflatable or rigid kayaks by drilling a mounting hole approximately 1 inch from the edge of the end cone.
Specifications:
- Material: Durable, corrosion-resistant composite
- Pin Length: Extended for deeper insertion into end cone mount
- Compatibility: Saturn PK365, FPK365, and other compatible kayaks with modifications
- Mounting Method: Direct insertion into the rear cone’s pre-drilled hole or custom-drilled opening
DIY Steering System Installation:
- Rudder Attachment: Insert the rudder pin into the designated hole in the kayak's rear cone. If no hole is present, drill a 1-inch offset hole for proper alignment.
- Steering Control Setup:
- Attach two paracord control lines to the rudder levers.
- Thread the cords through the existing D-rings along the kayak’s sides, extending toward the cockpit.
- Adjust tension to allow effective rudder movement for directional control.
- Rudder Stabilization (Optional):
- Secure two short bungee cords to the rudder levers or paracord lines to maintain rudder alignment when not in use.
- Quick-Release Mechanism:
- Use small carabiners to attach the paracord lines to D-rings for fast attachment or detachment when needed.
This rudder system provides an efficient alternative to paddle-based steering, allowing for improved maneuverability in various water conditions. For installation reference, review the provided images detailing suggested configurations.
Included: Rudder only. Will need to purchase paracord or rubber cords and carabiners as needed.
